Getting started
Place Collections Overview
Pingtumi Place Collections allows you to create collections of places/locations that you can save, view your way and share with anyone, without them needing the app. When you select a place within a collection, you will be able to navigate to that place with Apple or Google Maps. This guide will show you step by step how to create a shareable Place Collection that everyone will use and enjoy.
01 The two ideas: Places and Collections
Everything in Pingtumi is built from two things.
- A place is a single location you save. It could be a restaurant, a trailhead, an airport, a venue etc. Each place has its own name, notes, photo, date, and type icon.
- A collection is a themed group of places. You can customize your collection by giving it a title, a unique cover image, notes and a call to action button. Add places to your collection then share it with others.
All Places is your private library. Every place you save lands there once, and you can reuse it in as many collections as you like. Editing a place updates it everywhere it appears.
Save a place once in All Places, then add it to as many collections as you want. A great ramen spot in Lisbon can sit in both “Weekend in Lisbon” and “Ramen worth the wait” at once.
02 Save your first place
You can save a place from the map, from a search, or from a photo. Start with search.
- Open the map and search by business name, address, or landmark.
- No match? Drag the map until the pin sits exactly where you want it.
- Tap Add to All Places or Add to Collection.
- Give it a name. That’s the only required field; add the rest now or later.
If a photo in your library carries location data, Pingtumi reads the coordinates and drops the pin for you. Handy for “where was that place we ate?”
03 Add details to a place
A place can carry as little or as much as you want. Everything except the name is optional.
- Name — the only required field, and it must be unique for each place.
- Notes — hours, what to order, the gate code, a memory.
- Photo — your own shot, or one of the place.
- Date & Time — when you’re leaving or arriving, or when an event begins and ends. This is what powers Timeline and Itinerary views.
- Type — pick an icon (restaurant, trail, hotel, museum…) so the map reads at a glance.
Edit a place from All Places and the change follows it into every collection that uses it. There is only ever one copy.
04 Create a collection
Tap + on the collections screen. You have two starting points.
From a template
Pick a starting point and Pingtumi sets a fitting cover and view/display mode. You can change everything afterward.
- Trip Itinerary
- Restaurants
- Hiking Trails
- Campus Map
- Countries Visited
- States Visited
- Event
- Family Logistics
- Work Trip
- College Tours
- Realtor Listings
From a link
Paste a web link that already lists places. A published itinerary, a “Best Tacos in Town” article, an event page. Pingtumi reads the places off the page and builds the collection for you.
Building a collection from a link spends Coins (see section 10). If the import finds no places, the Coins are refunded automatically.
05 Make it yours
Open the collection’s ••• menu to edit how it looks and what it links to.
- Title — give your collection a name.
- Cover Image — keep the template cover or use Coins to create an image with AI or upload your own image.
- Notes — anything you would like recipients to know about the collection.
- Link & Call To Action — attach one link and choose the Call To Action label recipients see.
Call To Action labels include RSVP, Buy Now, Book Now, Get Tickets, Check In, Register, and more. The default is Open Link.
06 Add places to the collection
Three ways, and they all end up in All Places too.
- From All Places — select one or more places you’ve already saved.
- By searching — add a brand-new place without leaving the collection.
- From a photo — the same location-data trick as when you saved your first place.
07 Choose how it’s viewed
A collection can be shown three ways (the Display Mode). Pick the one that matches why you made it. You can switch any time, even after sharing.
ItineraryGrouped by day with times. Built for trips and schedules you’re planning.
TimelinePlaces in date order. Built for memories and trips you’ve taken.
ListSortable by name, distance, or type. Built for finding a place fast.
Whoever opens your collection can re-sort it and switch time zones on their end. None of that changes what you published.
10 Work on a collection together
A collection can have collaborators. This is useful for a group trip or a shared set of listings.
- Open Collaborators from the collection menu and invite people by username. Collaborators must have a Pingtumi account.
- They can add and edit places; the activity list shows who changed what.
- Resend or revoke an invite any time. Collaborators can leave whenever they want.
11 Coins
Coins are Pingtumi’s in-app credit for a few premium actions. Most of the app doesn’t touch them.
- Unlocking a premium cover image for a collection.
- Building a collection from a link.
Buy Coins in tiers — 6 for $2.49 up to 100 for $24.99. If a link import finds no places, those Coins come straight back.
Saving places, creating collections from templates, choosing view modes, sharing, Wallet passes, and collaborating are all free.

Do the people I share with need Pingtumi?
No. A shared collection opens in any browser, and on iPhone in an App Clip.
Does Pingtumi have a mobile app?
Yes. Pingtumi is available in select countries on the Apple App Store for iPhone.
How does Pingtumi differ from Google Maps List and Apple Maps Guides?
Pingtumi Place Collections are different because they turn saved places into shareable experiences. They’re not simply lists of pins on a map. They’re itineraries, timelines, and stories that bring every place to life. Arrange destinations in a meaningful order, add personal notes, images and memories, and share the complete journey with friends, family, or anyone looking for inspiration.
What happens if I delete my Place Collection?
Deleting a Place Collection removes the collection, but not the places in it. Your saved places remain in All Places and in any other collections you’ve added them to. If the collection was previously published then those you shared it with will no longer have access to it.
What happens to a shared link when I edit the collection?
It updates in place. The link and QR code never change, so you can keep refining a collection after you’ve sent it.
Are my collections public?
Only people with the link can open a collection. Your All Places library is private to you and is never shared as a whole.
Is Pingtumi free?
Yes, for everything most people do. Saving places, building collections from templates, choosing a display mode, sharing, Wallet passes, and collaborating are all free.
Coins, Pingtumi’s in-app credit, are only needed to add your own cover image or build a collection from a web link. A link import that finds no places is refunded automatically.
